Gamepage completed
I finally managed to finish the gamepage. All major parts are done, and except for some minor cleanup stuff, the page should look and work as intended.
Here are five example gamepages:
Comments are, as always, welcome
Complete gamepage mockup
I've just completed the gamepage mockup. Parts are still just text I added, and not dynamically generated from the database, but the basic layout is there.
I'm very happy with how it turned out, but I think the "Compatibility" section could use some more work. What do you think?
Game status information
On the new site, I'm planning to have more fine-grained support for the status of games. Right now, a game can be either Warez, Abandonware or Unknown.
We'll add some extra states (Still for sale, Protected and Freeware) for CGN². I've just made a small page explaining the different statuses, and I'd like to show a screenshot here:
The gamepage itself is progressing nicely. This was just a related page I quickly created for some diversity in my work.
Quick gamepage update
Before I go to bed, I want to show you what I've done with the gamepage so far. A few new changes have been made, and I like what I have already.
As always, comments are welcome
Early gamepage screenshot
The first part of the gamepage is taking shape already, so I've decided to post a first screenshot already:
Any comments are greatly appreciated
Also note two new features that are already visible: The "compatibility information", and the "gameplay elements". The compatibility information (and guides) feature is already confirmed, but I'm not yet sure if I'll keep the gameplay elements in the final version.
The "status" field can be Sold, Protected, Unknown, Abandonware and Freeware. It will probably link to more information about the status of the specific game.
Gamepage
I finally started working on the actual page that will display all game information. In my opinion, this is one of the most important parts of the site, as most other pages and functionality depends on the it.
I've delayed creating the gamepage for so long, because it is a really hard page to get right. The current gamepage we have on CGN – for example this one – is ok, but can be improved a lot. All information needs to be clearly visible, and things like screenshots all have to be neatly presented.
I've got a couple of ideas in my head right now for the final layout and look of the page, but nothing worth showing yet.
As soon as I finish a presentable mock-up, I'll post some screenshots here
An Introduction
Hey there!
I've been looking for a way to keep you guys updated on our progress with CGN2.
I figured starting a blog might be a good solution. From now on, I'll try to post regular updates of what we're planning and working on for CGN2. Expect some early screenshots of upcoming new features, and perhaps a chance to betatest the new site later.
We haven't decided on a particular release date yet, but I'll post about it as soon as I can.
From our current site it might seem as if we've mostly abandoned CGN, but that's not the case. The current management interface is just too time demanding for us, which is why I prefer spending my time on CGN2 development. Progress might seem slow, but that's because I have the bad habit of spending hours upon hours on perfecting a single page/feature before moving on.
Anyway, expect some pretty regular updates on this CGN² development blog, and here are some screenshots to wet your appetite:
